Product features to compare and considerations to take into account
When it comes to infrared sauna blankets, you get what you pay for in terms of quality.
All sauna blankets are definitely not created equal and there are many considerations you should pay attention to, including:
Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) are caused by any appliance that plugs into an AC power supply (essentially everything in your house).
With most appliances though, you are not immersed in them the way you are with a sauna blanket and you don’t have the same exposure to the EMFs.
Our view at Heat Healer is that natural is always best and if you can avoid being overly exposed to artificial EMFs, then that is going to be a good thing.
We have engineered the Heat Healer with a layer of Faraday Shielding around our heating element, which is effective at blocking out EMFs.
Across our sauna blanket we achieve a reading of zero EMF consistently and thereby deliver a heat therapy experience that is as natural as possible.
While some other sauna blankets claim to be ‘low EMF’, unless they have been specifically engineered in a certain way, then chances are their claims are false. And being engineered to block out EMFs is no easy feat…
Certification of Materials Used
Unfortunately we live in a world where artificial toxins are all around us.
Purchasing a sauna blanket is meant to be about rejuvenating your body and this means ensuring you are not exposing yourself to any unnecessary chemicals or potentially harmful toxins.
At a minimum you should ensure that all materials in your sauna blanket are RoHS Certified.
This certification ensures that materials have been independently tested against the ten most common and harmful toxic substances (eg, lead, mercury, dibutyl phthalate, etc).
This is just the minimum however.
With the Heat Healer, we have taken things a step further and have undergone SGS Certification.
SGS Certification tests against an additional 120 ‘substances of concern’ and ensures that we are adhering to the gold standard when it comes to ensuring our materials are safe and toxin free.
As well, unlike most other sauna blankets, Heat Healer does not use PU (polyurethane) leather for the exterior of the blanket.
PU leather is fake leather and it is often made with solvents and glues that can cause off-gassing when heated up. PU leather also tends to deteriorate over time with the surface ‘flaking off’.
Instead of PU leather, Heat Healer uses a premium Amide fabric, which is the same material that gets used by NASA for an astronaut's space-suit. It is lightweight, durable and heat resistant… basically it is the perfect material for a sauna blanket.
Producing high quality infrared heat is not as simple as it might seem.
At Heat Healer, as well as having a high quality carbon fiber heating element, we also utilize a bed of 96 Jade & Tourmaline stones.
These stones are perfect conductors of infrared heat and they help to evenly distribute the heat throughout the blanket. This helps to eliminate problems such as ‘hot spots’ whilst delivering a deeper and more penetrating infrared heat.
So beyond just looking nice (and feeling amazing to lay on top of), these stones have real functionality that improves the infrared experience, whilst also naturally emitting negative ions when heated up.
Negative ions are tiny particles that are commonly found in environments people find relaxing (eg, the beach, rain-forests and waterfalls are all environments naturally high in negative ions).
This helps to create an experience that more closely mimics nature.
While some other sauna blankets claim to use crystals, these are not the same as real stones and they do not have the same functionality.
These crystals are instead synthetically woven into fabric and hidden inside the blanket.
Beyond just sounding nice, this has little effect with regards to functionality and in our opinion it doesn’t make sense to hide synthetic crystals inside the blanket where they can never be seen.
Sauna blankets will come as either one zone, two zone or three zone blankets. At Heat Healer we want to give people maximum flexibility, so our sauna blanket is a three zone sauna blanket.
This means you can independently set the temperature for each zone, upper, middle and lower.
Feel like applying extra heat to your abdomen area but want to tone it down on your legs? No problem… The Heat Healer will allow you to do that.
Sauna Blanket Size
Size matters. And with the Heat Healer, we are larger than most other sauna blankets on the market.
The Heat Healer is 75in (190cm) long and has a circumference of 69in (175cm) when closed. This is approximately 6” longer and wider than other products on the market.
The Heat Healer has been purposefully designed to comfortably fit someone up to 6’6” tall and 300lbs.
The importance of customer service
When you purchase a product like an infrared sauna blanket, you expect it to be a high quality product that comes with high quality customer service.
The considerations to taking into account are:
Responsiveness to questions asked
A good indicator of the kind of customer service you will receive after making a purchase is how responsive and helpful a company is in responding to your questions quickly, before you make a purchase!
At Heat Healer, you can email us any time you want at email@example.com and we will respond within 24hrs (usually much quicker!).
Product returns policy
Product returns should be easy and you shouldn’t have to jump through a dozen hoops in order to return your purchase and receive a refund if the product is not right for you.
At Heat Healer, we have a 45 day returns policy.
We want you to love your Heat Healer and the last thing we want is for a customer to be unhappy with their purchase.
If you are unhappy with the Heat Healer, you can return it to us for a full refund, minus a $29 return shipping fee.
It is that easy. No hoops to jump through.
A high quality infrared sauna blanket doesn’t come cheap and it should be built to last.
At Heat Healer, we offer a 3-year product warranty, though in reality we expect it to last a lot longer than that!
Faults with the Heat Healer are rare, but it can happen from time to time. If it does happen, just let us know and feel confident knowing that you are covered with an industry leading 3-year product warranty.
